Tongue piercing is done through the center of the tongue with a barbell, vertically, in a way not to damage the nerves passing there. On either side of the center pairs of piercings, (called “snake bites”) also can be done. They give the appearance of fangs. Another option is enlarging the hole after healing since tongue easily stretches, but this should be done with great care, moving one size in two months.
